I am because you are. |
I'm a junior in college and started this blog in order to save my introverted self from repeating the same stories over and over again. ; ) Also to stay in touch with family and friends, of course. : ) I'm an INFP, here's a few descriptors (I picked all the best ones!): Idealistic, Sensitive, Concerned, Understanding, Curious, Warm, Loyal, Creative, Reserved, Flexible, Accepting, [ironically?] Original and Complex. |
So it’s quite official now. When over a month goes by with no new posts, I think that person qualifies as a terrible blogger. That’s me. Anyways….
I just ate a bowl of Kashi Crunch cereal. It is delicious. One of my favorite cereals, which is really quite an elite group. I am a cereal connoisseur, if you will. Plus the Kashi cereals were on sale at my CVS store :) My as in the one just down the block instead of the other two 5 and 8 blocks away which are completely uphill treks. The CVS employees are really nice, they love to help even when a language barrier prevents them from completely knowing what you’re talking about or what you are asking for. I wish I was half as brave as them!
This past weekend I tried to volunteer at Potomac Overlook Regional Park, where I would help them pick up acorns and other native plant seeds which they would then plant next to endangered watersheds. Very cool, “Go nuts for clean water!” is their motto. Unfortunately, the bus doesn’t go to the park on Saturdays and I avoid taxis for financial reasons. ;)
This weekend, however, I hope to get my volunteering karma back by helping out at a Intergenerational International Festival in Silver Spring, MD. I’ll be helping out an organization that works with at-risk young girls and women across Silver Spring. Silver Spring is the third largest metro area in MD, after Baltimore and Columbia.
That’s one of my favorite things about living here. Whatever cause I feel like supporting is here. And it’s just a short trip on the metro to get anywhere! Though I must admit I’m not huge fan of the metro ride of an hour to Greenbelt and then an hour bus ride from their to get to Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (phew… that’s why we call it BWI). Usually the cheapest air port. At least for visitors from the midwest :)
Thanks for reading! I’ll try posting more often!

P.S. I can’t write about my internship, it’s actually a rule, so let me know if you have any questions about that!
Her silver hair
is coarse and tangled.
There’s a scent in the air
of flesh freshly mangled.
The candles of the house
have long been melted.
What had happened, to make her the mouse?
When the cats changed, had she felt it?
Her gown was clean
and relatively untouched.
I wondered about her, was she mean?
A clue! What’s in her hand, tightly clutched—
A glint of metal…
…someday I might finish this… it’s hard though because I’m not usually so creepy!
for my nieces and nephews
Once or twice a night whilst we sleep
The Boogeyman tips and toes across the street
He saunters in shadows so nobody knows
Rubbing his hands together every night as he goes
He’ll come in through your window or under your door
He’ll hide in your closet or in your underwear drawer
And just to be extra naughty not nice
He’ll infect you and your pillow with lice
Don’t pull up the covers and close your eyes
Hiding from the Boogeyman wouldn’t be wise
You can’t keep him out because he’s in your mind
And trust me, my dear, he isn’t very kind
To fight him where he stands with equal force
Would be a much better policy, of course of course
And when he sneaks into your room, have no fear
If you show that you’re tough he’ll disappear
You have to be brave, you have to be mean
Just growl and scowl, you lean, mean Boogeyman-eating machine
